Why each option
By default, when a call is forwarded into Cisco Unity Connection, callers are offered the chance to hear the opening greeting or leave a message for the user if that user has a mailbox.
Logging in to a mailbox requires the caller to know credentials and is not presented as a default option to external forwarded callers.
The opening greeting is the default top-level entry point played to callers arriving in Unity Connection, orienting them to the system and providing navigation options.
When a call is specifically forwarded from a user's extension, Unity Connection by default offers the caller the option to leave a message in that user's mailbox, which is the primary purpose of the voicemail system.
Prompting for a user ID and PIN is part of the subscriber login flow, not the default caller experience for forwarded calls.
Remote mailbox login is an advanced feature for off-site subscribers and is not part of the default call-handling options presented to forwarded callers.
