  • D

Why each option

A known low-availability testing facility that could impact the schedule is a potential future event, making it a project risk that should be recorded in the risk register for tracking and mitigation planning.

AUpdate the project schedule.

Updating the project schedule is a response to a realized impact or a confirmed change, not the initial action when identifying a potential future impact or risk.

BUpdate the issue log.

The issue log is for problems that have already occurred or are currently happening and require immediate resolution, not for potential future problems.

CUpdate the lessons learned register.

The lessons learned register is for documenting experiences and insights after they have occurred or at project closure, not for proactively managing current or future risks.

DUpdate the risk register.Correct

The low availability of the testing facility is a known condition that might impact the project schedule in the future. This is the definition of a risk: an uncertain event or condition that, if it occurs, has a positive or negative effect on project objectives. Therefore, it should be added to the risk register for analysis, planning risk responses, and monitoring.

D is correct. The testing facility's low availability is a potential future impact, which makes it a risk, so the PM should update the risk register before it becomes an actual issue.

Picked B my first go around because it felt like an active problem, but since it only "could potentially" impact the schedule, that makes it a risk, not an issue yet. D is the move.

I first leaned toward B since it feels like a roadblock you need to deal with, but the key word is potentially. It hasnt happened yet, so its a risk, not an issue. D is the answer.

Had this exact one last month, D is right because low availability is a potential future impact, not a current issue yet.

D. Saw this on my exam last month, the potential impact screams risk register.
