One of the processes within requirements analysis is to prioritize requirements. As a business analyst why would you ever want to prioritize requirements?

Determining cost is a separate estimation activity that may use prioritization as an input, but it is not the reason for prioritizing requirements.

Scheduling is a project management activity that follows prioritization; it is a consequence of prioritization, not its purpose.

Identifying which requirements are most critical allows the business analyst and project team to concentrate analysis and design efforts where they matter most, ensuring that essential business needs are addressed before less important ones. This prevents wasted effort on low-priority items when resources are constrained. It also guides decisions about scope, sequencing, and trade-offs throughout the project.

Risk analysis is a distinct process; while prioritization may inform risk decisions, conducting additional risk analysis is not the primary motivation for prioritizing requirements.
