Cisco Unified Messaging Service (UMS) is the feature within Cisco Unity Connection that integrates with an email system (such as Microsoft Exchange) to forward voicemail notifications and attachments to a user's email address. If UMS is not configured correctly or is not associated with the user's mailbox, voicemails will be stored on Unity Connection but will not be delivered to email. Checking UMS settings - including SMTP configuration and the user's messaging settings - is the correct first step.

Enterprise Parameters in CUCM govern system-wide call processing settings and are unrelated to voicemail-to-email delivery on Unity Connection.

Roles in Unity Connection control administrative and user permissions, not the delivery of voicemail messages to email.

Message Waiting Indicators (MWI) control the lamp or tone that alerts a user to a new voicemail; they do not affect email delivery of the voicemail.
