Cache on server persistence is a caching mechanism that improves performance, not the fundamental reason why private image mode allows persistent user changes.

While changes are retained, the more accurate and general explanation is that they are stored *separate from the base image*, rather than strictly in a dedicated vDisk *image*.

In Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) private image mode, each virtual desktop streams its operating system from a base vDisk, but all user-specific changes, application installations, and configuration modifications are stored on a separate, dedicated write cache disk or a local disk, thus persisting changes across sessions independently of the base image.

Efficient centralization describes a benefit of PVS management, but it does not explain the technical mechanism by which individual users maintain their desktop changes.
