When a host firmware package policy is created, what must it be associated with to upgrade the BIOS?

Blades and blade pools are physical resource groupings used for server assignment and pooling, not a policy attachment point that activates firmware upgrades.

In Cisco UCS Manager, the service profile is the logical construct that binds all policies - including the host firmware package policy - to a physical server. When the host firmware package policy is attached to a service profile and that profile is associated with a server, UCS Manager automatically pushes the specified BIOS and adapter firmware versions to the hardware.

A boot policy defines the server boot order and device targets but plays no role in initiating firmware version management or BIOS upgrades.

A service profile template is used to instantiate service profiles but is not itself the association point that drives firmware upgrade execution - the bound service profile fulfills that role.
