SK0-003 · Question #208
An administrator is attempting to use Hyper-V on a server with an AMD processor but is receiving an error. Which of the following should be enabled to resolve the error?
The correct answer is B. NX. To use Hyper-V on an AMD processor, both hardware-assisted virtualization and hardware-enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP) must be enabled in the BIOS/UEFI.

Why each option
To use Hyper-V on an AMD processor, both hardware-assisted virtualization and hardware-enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP) must be enabled in the BIOS/UEFI.
XD (Execute Disable Bit) is Intel's implementation of Data Execution Prevention (DEP); for an AMD processor, the equivalent technology is called NX.
Hyper-V requires both hardware-assisted virtualization (AMD-V for AMD processors) and hardware-enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP) to be enabled. For AMD processors, DEP is referred to as NX (No-Execute) in the BIOS/UEFI settings, and it must be enabled for Hyper-V to function correctly.
VT (Virtualization Technology) is the generic term for hardware-assisted virtualization (like AMD-V or Intel VT-x), which is also a required feature for Hyper-V, but NX (DEP) is another distinct and essential requirement that is often disabled by default.
Hyperthreading is a CPU technology that allows a single physical core to execute multiple threads concurrently to improve performance, but it is not a requirement for Hyper-V to function.
