Operational is the third component of a security program, alongside electronic and architectural. The operational component encompasses policies, procedures, personnel, and management practices that govern how security systems and physical structures are used and maintained day to day.

Physical is not a distinct third component in this framework - physical security characteristics are addressed within the architectural component, which covers facility design and construction.

Environmental is not one of the three recognized independent components of a security program in ESS methodology; it may be a consideration within architectural design but is not a standalone component.

Elemental is not a recognized security program component category in any standard ESS or security management framework.
