Why each option
The Sample option in the Web Intelligence Query panel Properties tab allows you to enable a Fixed sample and specify a Sample Result set.
Enabling the 'Fixed' option locks the sample to a consistent set of rows so that the same sample data is returned on every document refresh rather than a random subset.
'Max retrieval time' is a standalone query limit property configured separately in the Properties tab and is not part of the Sample option settings.
'Max rows retrieved' is another independent query limit setting and does not belong to the Sample option configuration.
The 'Sample Result' set option lets you define and specify a particular subset of rows to be used as the sampled output of the query.
