200-150 · Question #71
Refer to the exhibit. NP uplink ports connected to the core NPIV switch do not come online and are stuck in an initializing state. Which options is a cause for this behavior?
The correct answer is B. The core switch has not been enabled for NPIV. NPV mode requires NPIV to be enabled on the core switch; without it, NP uplink ports cannot complete the FLOGI process and remain stuck in an initializing state.

Why each option
NPV mode requires NPIV to be enabled on the core switch; without it, NP uplink ports cannot complete the FLOGI process and remain stuck in an initializing state.
A mismatch between upstream NP ports and downstream F ports is a different configuration concern and does not directly cause NP uplinks to be stuck when the core switch lacks NPIV support.
In NPV mode, the edge switch presents its N-Ports to the core switch, which must support NPIV to assign multiple FCIDs over a single physical port. If NPIV is not enabled on the core switch, it cannot accept the N-Port login requests from the NPV device, causing all NP uplink ports to remain in an initializing state indefinitely.
Fibre Channel ports do not operate with an Ethernet-style full or half duplex setting; this is not a valid FC parameter and has no bearing on port initialization state.
VSAN identifiers not being allowed on Virtual Port Channels is a trunking misconfiguration that is unrelated to the NPIV dependency required for NP uplink initialization.
