A is correct. SmartEvent needs the Correlation Unit to process and correlate log events, the SmartEvent Server to store and manage the correlated event data, and the SmartEvent Client to give you the GUI to view and interact with everything, so those three are the required components to get it operational.

The answer is A, and it maps exactly to what you actually install in the field: the Correlation Unit crunches the raw log data, the SmartEvent Server stores and processes the correlated events, and the SmartEvent Client is how your SOC team actually views and works those events in the GUI. SIC is just the general Check Point secure communication layer that everything already uses, not a SmartEvent-specific component you go out and deploy separately.

Worth adding that the exam loves to bait you into crediting the SmartEvent Server with the actual pattern-matching work, when it is really the Correlation Unit running the correlation policy that makes that happen, and confusing those two roles is exactly what burned me the first time through.

A is right, you need the Correlation Unit, Server, and Client to run SmartEvent.
