D is the right call here. To run Gaia in 64-bit mode you need both the set edition default 64-bit command during installation and more than 4 GB of RAM installed in the appliance, since the 64-bit kernel will not load on hardware with 4 GB or less, and hard disk size has nothing to do with the edition selection.

I almost circled C because my brain kept screaming "more stuff equals right answer," but then I remembered my hook, R-A-M Rules All Modes, meaning 64-bit Gaia just needs the set-edition command plus enough RAM to breathe, and the hard disk requirement is a total red herring wearing a tuxedo it has no business wearing.

The RAM is necessary but not sufficient, you physically need enough memory installed for the kernel to actually use, but without running "set edition 64-bit" and rebooting, the gateway stays on the 32-bit kernel and caps its addressable space right around 4 GB regardless of what the hardware slots hold.
