When considering an HA FC environment, a Single Point of Failure (SPOF) between the storage and the server is:

A loop device connected to dual ports might offer some path redundancy but does not eliminate all SPOFs within the loop or the device itself, making it unacceptable in a true HA design.

A core principle of High Availability (HA) in Fibre Channel environments is to eliminate all Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) to ensure continuous data access. The presence of even a single SPOF within a fabric, or in the connection path, means that a component failure could disrupt service, which is contrary to HA objectives.

While consistent name server configuration is beneficial, it does not address physical hardware SPOFs and therefore does not make any SPOF acceptable in an HA Fibre Channel environment.

The fundamental goal of HA is to eliminate all SPOFs, so having different SPOFs in each fabric still means multiple points of failure exist and is not an acceptable HA strategy.
