Why should you use extracts in Report Painter reports?

Extracts store the results of a report execution, so when the report is run again, it can retrieve the pre-calculated data from the extract instead of querying the database directly. This drastically reduces the report's runtime, especially for complex reports with large data volumes.

While extracts store aggregated data, their primary purpose is to improve runtime rather than to perform automatic data aggregation; the aggregation happens during the initial report run that generates the extract.

Extracts store report data and thus consume database space, not reduce it.

Extracts are static snapshots of data at the time of their creation and do not automatically update with new postings; they need to be refreshed or regenerated to reflect current data.
