SharePoint Central Administration backup is natively aware of the SharePoint object model and backs up farm configuration, service application settings, content databases, and site collections together. It ensures that all SharePoint-specific metadata, solution deployments, and service configurations are captured in a consistent, SharePoint-restorable format.

SQL Server Management Studio backup captures only the raw database files and does not preserve SharePoint farm topology, service application configuration, or solution deployment state needed for a full farm recovery.

Windows Server Backup operates at the volume or file level and does not understand SharePoint's internal object structure, making it unsuitable for a complete, consistent SharePoint farm backup.

Data Protection Manager (DPM) is a valid enterprise-grade option but requires additional licensing and infrastructure setup, making it a more complex solution compared to the built-in Central Administration backup for standard scenarios.
