The WLC multicast address is used for CAPWAP multicast forwarding between the WLC and its APs and is not the address of the video content stream being distributed to clients.

In Cisco WLC media stream (multicast direct) configuration, the administrator must specify the exact multicast IP address the video server uses as the destination for its stream. The WLC monitors IGMP membership reports for that group address and then delivers the stream as direct unicast to each subscribing wireless client, eliminating over-the-air multicast inefficiency in a high-density stadium environment. Without the correct video server multicast destination address, the WLC cannot identify which group to intercept and convert.

The AP multicast group address is the CAPWAP infrastructure group used for WLC-to-AP communication and is unrelated to the media content multicast group.

The RP (Rendezvous Point) address is a PIM routing infrastructure address used for IP multicast tree construction in the wired network and is not a configurable parameter within the WLC media stream feature.
