A multitenant building contains known wireless networks in most of the suites. Rogues must be classified in the WLC. How are the competing wireless APs classified?

Ad hoc classification is reserved for peer-to-peer wireless networks, not for infrastructure APs operated by neighboring businesses.

Friendly is the correct rogue classification for APs that are known and recognized as belonging to neighboring organizations rather than your managed infrastructure. In a multitenant building, the competing APs from other suites are acknowledged, non-threatening networks. The WLC marks them friendly to track their presence without generating security alerts.

Malicious classification is applied only when an AP is identified as an actual security threat, such as a rogue device impersonating a legitimate SSID.

Unclassified is the default state of any newly detected AP before it has been reviewed and categorized, not the appropriate final classification for recognized neighboring APs.
