2V0-622D · Question #147
An administrator discovers that virtual machine migrations with encrypted vMotion have failed. Which action can resolve this issue?
The correct answer is A. Use vSphere Update Manager to upgrade all hosts to ESXi 6.5. Encrypted vMotion requires ESXi 6.5 or later on all participating hosts, so migrating to an older version fails at the host compatibility check.

Why each option
Encrypted vMotion requires ESXi 6.5 or later on all participating hosts, so migrating to an older version fails at the host compatibility check.
Encrypted vMotion was introduced in vSphere 6.5 and relies on AES-NI hardware-accelerated encryption built into the ESXi 6.5 kernel. All hosts participating in a vMotion migration must be running ESXi 6.5 or newer, so using vSphere Update Manager to bring every host up to 6.5 satisfies the minimum version requirement and resolves the failure.
USB decryption dongles are not a component of the vSphere encrypted vMotion architecture, which uses software-level AES-NI encryption managed entirely by the hypervisor.
Strict Lockdown mode controls direct host access and SSH connectivity but has no effect on whether a host supports encrypted vMotion.
There is no esxcli command to enable encrypted vMotion at the host level - it is enabled per-VM through the vSphere Client and requires the ESXi 6.5 infrastructure to be in place first.
