Why each option
vSphere 6.x Fault Tolerance does not support VVOLs, Storage vMotion, or VM Component Protection, but does support vMotion and vSphere Distributed Switches.
Virtual Volumes (VVOLs) are not supported as backing storage for FT-protected VMs because FT requires VMFS or NFS 3. Storage vMotion is unsupported because live storage migration of an FT-protected VM while maintaining disk replication is not permitted. VM Component Protection (VMCP) is also unsupported because FT provides its own failure response mechanism that conflicts with VMCP's APD/PDL handling.
vMotion is fully supported with FT in vSphere 6.x - the ability to vMotion FT-protected VMs was a major new capability introduced in vSphere 6.0.
vSphere Distributed Switches are supported for use with Fault Tolerance and are not listed among FT's unsupported features in vSphere 6.x.
