Why each option
When creating a new virtual machine on a vSphere Standard Switch with multiple portgroups, the portgroup listed first alphabetically is selected by default.
Access Network is selected by default because vSphere lists portgroups alphabetically in the VM creation wizard and uses the first entry as the default selection. Starting with 'A', Access Network precedes DMZ Network, VM Network, and Virtual Machine Network in alphabetical order, making it the automatic default choice.
DMZ Network starts with 'D' and appears after Access Network alphabetically, so it would not be the default selection.
VM Network starts with 'V' and falls later alphabetically than both Access Network and DMZ Network, so it is not the default.
Virtual Machine Network also starts with 'V' and like VM Network, appears later in alphabetical order than Access Network.
