Why each option
The vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) ships with an embedded PostgreSQL database and the vSphere Update Manager extension as built-in components.
The vSphere Update Manager (VUM) extension is bundled directly into the vCenter Server Appliance, allowing patch and baseline management without a separate installation.
The vCSA uses an embedded PostgreSQL database as its internal data store to replace the external Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle databases required by the Windows-based vCenter, making it a core included component.
vSphere Data Protection was a separate backup appliance that has since been deprecated and was never a built-in component of the vCSA.
vSphere Replication is deployed as its own dedicated virtual appliance and is not packaged inside the vCenter Server Appliance.
AppDefense was a separate VMware security product delivered as its own service and plugin - it is not included in the vCSA installation.
