Auto Last Hop affects how the BIG-IP sends return traffic to the client, not the initial network reachability of servers from the BIG-IP device.

For a newly created VLAN on a BIG-IP device to communicate with external networks or servers, it must be logically associated with one or more physical network interfaces, as VLANs segment traffic over these interfaces. Without assigning a physical interface, the VLAN exists only logically within the BIG-IP, unable to send or receive traffic on the network.

A Floating Self-IP address is used for high availability failover scenarios, not for establishing basic network reachability for a new VLAN.
