Hey, so before I try to break this down I want to make sure I am looking at the full question, because what you posted only shows the answer letter options but not the actual directive names (A through E) or the description text (1 through 5). Without knowing what those are, I can say the answer is D but I cannot explain the matching or why D beats the others. Can you paste the full question with both the directive list and the numbered descriptions? Once I see all of that I can walk through the logic with you.

Makes sense once you map each directive to its function, but which specific directives and descriptions are we matching here?

Good point, and when I was drilling that same section I found it helps to group them by scope first, like global versus interface-level, before trying to match the descriptions, because that cuts down the guesswork a lot.

Answer D every time, and here is why it sticks: picture a DISCO ball labeled 4, 2, 5, 3, 1 spinning in order, because D gives you A-4, B-2, C-5, D-3, E-1, and that disco sequence is your hook so you never mix up the B-1 trap in option A or the sneaky D-4 swap in option C. The test writers love flipping B and D pairings to catch you rushing, so just ask yourself if the disco ball is spinning the right way. On my actual exam I almost bubbled C because that A-3 looked so familiar after my late-night cramming session, but I slowed down, pictured my disco mnemonic, and realized C swaps the A column wrong compared to the real directive behavior. Burned that D into my brain and walked out with a passing score.

Memorized the proxy directives cold after failing them the first time, D locked in fast.

Repetition drills are solid but make sure you understand the functional difference between forward and reverse proxy in context, not just the keywords, because some questions flip the scenario to test if you actually know which direction traffic is flowing.
