Signature Auto-Update needs a non-zero interval so the scheduler actually triggers download attempts, and it needs live internet access to reach the Citrix update servers where the signature packages are hosted. Without either one the feature simply never pulls new signatures, so no amount of DNS tuning or syslog state changes will rescue it.

Internet connectivity is the other non-negotiable because the ADC has to reach the Citrix signature update server to pull the file down, full stop. DNS and syslog state are red herrings here, they matter for other subsystem functions but neither one gates the auto-update mechanism itself. I hit this exact item on my 341 sitting last spring and I second-guessed C for a moment because I was thinking about name resolution for the update URL, but then I caught myself, the question is about required conditions for the feature to work, not about what could theoretically cause a network failure downstream. Went with A and B, marked it, moved on, and it came back correct when I got my score report.

C and D are distractors, DNS can matter indirectly in some setups but it is not listed as a core requirement for auto-update in the 1Y0-341 objectives, and the syslog tile has nothing to do with signature retrieval. Quick question for anyone who has tested this in a lab, if the update interval is set but internet drops temporarily, does the appliance retry automatically on the next interval cycle, or does it require a manual trigger to get back on track after connectivity is restored?
Giselle K.Jun 9, 2026From every lab run I have done, the appliance retries on the next scheduled interval automatically, no manual trigger needed, as long as the interval task is still configured and the Citrix ADC management service has not been restarted in a way that clears the pending job.
