What is required to enable session pre-launch and session lingering?

Session pre-launch (starting a session before the user launches an app) and session lingering (keeping a session alive after the last app closes) are only available for Server OS Delivery Groups because these features target hosted application scenarios on multi-session OS machines such as Windows Server. Desktop OS Delivery Groups do not support these features because each user gets a dedicated machine session.

There is no 'Application Properties for Linger' setting in XenApp and XenDesktop; pre-launch and lingering are configured as properties of the Delivery Group itself, not individual application objects.

The Delivery Type must be set to 'Applications' (not 'Desktops') on a Server OS Delivery Group to enable pre-launch and lingering, since these features are designed for application delivery scenarios.

Machine Creation Services is an image management and provisioning mechanism and has no bearing on whether session pre-launch or lingering can be enabled for a Delivery Group.
