The whole pitch of Citrix Cloud is that Citrix takes the control plane off your hands, and that means the License Server, the Site Database, and the Delivery Controllers are all hosted and managed by Citrix on their end. You stop worrying about patching controllers, babysitting a SQL database, or keeping a license server healthy, because none of that lives in your datacenter anymore. The Hypervisor and the actual Applications and Desktops stay yours because Citrix never touches your underlying infrastructure or dictates what you publish, those are your workloads running on your resources, period.
Hiroshi T.May 2, 2026Worth adding that the Cloud Connectors, which sit in your resource location and proxy communication to the Citrix-managed control plane, are actually installed and maintained by the customer, so they belong conceptually on the "your responsibility" side of that line, which the Citrix DaaS product documentation makes clear under the shared responsibility model.

Jovan I.Apr 20, 2026When Citrix Cloud takes over the control plane, think about which pieces you no longer RDP into to patch or back up, because that is the line between customer-managed and Citrix-managed. Has anyone here actually tried to locate the Site Database connection string in a Cloud deployment and noticed it simply is not exposed to you the way it is on-prem?
Nina C.May 3, 2026Okay so I keep going back and forth on this one but I feel pretty solid that B has to be in there, because the whole point of Citrix Cloud is that you hand off infrastructure management to Citrix, and the hypervisor is core infrastructure. Like if they are running the show on their end, why would you still be responsible for the hypervisor layer? I picked B, C, and E as my three, but honestly I would love to hear if anyone sees it differently.
Viktor S.May 5, 2026Nina, Citrix Cloud moves the control plane to the cloud, not the hypervisor, so you still own and manage the hypervisor at your resource location just like before, which knocks B out and puts D in its place.
