The other options are just noise, because both virtual routers and virtual switches are software constructs, switches do not apply security policies (that is the VS, the Virtual System), and SmartView Monitor does not manage either one.

The L2/L3 split is exactly right, and worth adding that the Virtual Router also maintains separate routing table instances per VS so route leaking between virtual systems requires an explicit configured route, it does not happen automatically the way bridged traffic propagates within a Virtual Switch domain.
