SmartUpdate is the right answer here, and it makes sense once you understand what each console application is actually built to do. SmartUpdate is the dedicated tool for managing Check Point licenses and software packages across distributed installations, so it gives you a centralized view of license status, expiration dates, and which gateways are due for renewal. SmartView Tracker is your log viewer, SmartPortal is the web-based read-only interface, and SmartDashboard is where you build and push policy, so none of those three have any business showing you license expiry data. If you are managing an R76 distributed environment with multiple Security Gateways, SmartUpdate is the first place you go before renewals, not the last.

SmartUpdate is the right call here, and it makes sense once you have seen it in action. That is the console specifically built for managing licenses and software packages across your gateway infrastructure, so when you need to audit what is expiring and when, that is where you go. It gives you a centralized view of all your distributed gateways and their license status, and it will flag anything coming up for renewal so you are not caught off guard. SmartDashboard handles policy, SmartView Tracker is for log review, and SmartPortal is the web-based access tool, none of those touch license lifecycle management.

Saw this one cold, eliminated Tracker (logs) and Dashboard (policy), landed on SmartUpdate, done.

I almost put D because SmartDashboard is where most of us live all day and I figured license status would surface there, but then I remembered the courseware objective that separates policy management from software and license lifecycle management, and SmartUpdate is specifically the console designed to track entitlements, pull expiration dates, and push license updates to managed gateways. Think of it this way: SmartDashboard enforces policy, SmartUpdate enforces your contract.
